About Treebeard™

Independent, methodology-driven intelligence for the AI agent economy. Built to bring transparency and trust to an ecosystem that needs both.

The Company

AI agents are launching every day — trading platforms, token launchers, DeFi protocols, and agent creation tools. But where do you find trustworthy agents across the entire ecosystem?

Treebeard is building the unified discovery layer for autonomous AI agents. We aggregate data from all major registries, provide transparent ratings with actionable feedback, and help developers improve their agents. Whether you're building an agent, running a platform, or looking to hire one — Treebeard shows you what agents matter, why they matter, and how they're improving.

How We Got Here

Treebeard started as a research question about lending and borrowing in DeFi. The founder was building infrastructure for autonomous agent transactions and kept running into the same problem: there was no reliable way to evaluate whether an AI agent was trustworthy, well-built, or even genuinely autonomous.

The more we researched, the clearer the pattern became. Every consequential market in history — from bonds to consumer products to financial auditing — eventually developed independent evaluation infrastructure. The AI agent economy was missing exactly this. Marketplace operators had no quality signals for listing decisions. Developers had no benchmarks for what "good" looked like. Investors were making allocation decisions based on vibes and Twitter threads.

So we stopped building lending infrastructure and started building the rating infrastructure that lending (and everything else in the agent economy) would eventually require. Treebeard is the result: a methodology-driven intelligence platform informed by how Moody's, S&P, and Fitch built credibility in traditional finance — adapted for a market that moves at machine speed.

Who Builds This

Patrick Burns

Founder & CEO, Ent Laboratories LLC

Treebeard is built by a solo founder working with an AI-first operational model — what we call the Operating Swarm. The core methodology, architecture, and product decisions are human-driven. The implementation velocity comes from treating AI tools as force multipliers across engineering, research, and operations.

Mission & Vision

Vision

Every AI agent decision — from marketplace listing to institutional allocation — is backed by transparent, verifiable intelligence that rewards quality and punishes opacity, enabling a safer and better-informed agent adoption.

Mission

Provide independent, methodology-driven ratings and intelligence for AI agents that marketplace operators, developers, institutions, and investors can trust.

What We Build

Treebeard's mission is to be the authoritative source of truth about agent quality. These three core value layers work together to deliver on that mission.

Agent Directory

Comprehensive, structured profiles for every discovered AI agent — proactively indexed, not just self-submitted.

Treebeard Rating

Proprietary quality assessment (A+ through F) with transparent, auditable methodology informed by institutional risk frameworks.

Open API

A fully documented public API that developers and platform operators can use to embed Treebeard ratings, query agent data, and integrate intelligence into their own products.

Core Values

Transparency

Our methodology is published, our signals are documented, and our process is open to scrutiny — because trust requires visibility into how decisions are made.

Independence

Revenue and ratings are structurally separated. No amount of money buys a better score — our credibility is the product, and we protect it unconditionally.

Rigor

Every rating is backed by verifiable signals, weighted by cost-to-fake, and grounded in a published, auditable methodology — not opinion, not vibes, but measurable evidence.

Thoroughness

We proactively discover agents across ecosystems — crawling blockchains, monitoring repositories, and indexing marketplaces rather than waiting for self-submission.

Accountability

We publish audit results, document every rating decision, and maintain a formal appeals process — holding ourselves to the same standard we apply to the agents we rate.

What Treebeard Is NOT

Treebeard ratings are NOT: investment advice, financial recommendations, safety certifications, compliance attestations, or guarantees of any kind. A Treebeard rating is a quality assessment — an informed opinion based on observable, verifiable signals and a published methodology. The rating tells you what we found; the decision is yours.
